Margaret Nimmo Crowe spoke to the Children, Youth, and Families Working Group of Washington Grantmakers on April 6, 2011, to explain the complexities of accessing child mental health services in Virginia. View her powerpoint presentation and watch a brief video in which she outlines suggestions that she and the speakers from the District and Maryland made about priority funding areas for Washington-area foundations. The Consumer Health Foundation, a member of the Working Group, helps fund the Campaign for Children’s Mental Health.
Step Up For Kids Rally
100 child advocates gathered at the Capitol on October 5, 2010 to hear about the importance of making children a higher priority in public policy. The Campaign had 3 speakers at the event: Alex Slusher, mom and suicide prevention activist; Erik Christenson, young adult with mental illness; and Erik’s mom, Jesselle Christenson. All spoke eloquently about the need for greater availability and accessibility of children’s mental health services. Thank you, Alex, Erik, and Jesselle.
